Touchstone Farm's Hermey the Elf Dental Gift
HELP HERMEY VISIT OUR PONIES!
Many folks may know Hermey the Elf from the 1964 holiday classic, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer.
He's a misfit elf that aspired to be a dentist (and did become one!).
This year, our horses and ponies are wishing to be visited by Hermey for their bi-annual dental exam!
Touchstone Farm is an educational and therapeutic not-for-profit that is positively changing lives through partnerships between horses and people of varying abilities, ages, and backgrounds. We offer a rich and challenging variety of experiences which include: horse back riding and horse carriage driving lessons, equine oriented educational workshops and certifications for national organizations, summper camps, community events, and specialty weekends. All these experiences, lessons, and time spent on the farm, provide a safe place to build confidence, de-stress, feel the calmness of connecting with animals, and continue learning.
Our equine partners are the backbone of our mission. Without them, we wouldn't be able to change lives. Their dental care is a significant part of keeping them happy and healthy. The equine dentist visits our horses every 6 months to provide an overall exam and address any dental issues. Unlike people, horses chew in a circular motion. This leads to uneven wear on their teeth, causing various sharp points in the horse's mouth. If this is not quickly caught and corrected, it can tear up their mouth and leave sores, affecting the horse’s ability to eat and work.
The cost for each dental exam and treatment is $150 per horse or pony, and with 22 horses, this is a significant cost.
That is why our horses and ponies ask that you help make this wish come true!
- $150 covers a full dental exam and treatment for one horse or pony
- $75 covers half of the dental exam
- Any other amount is greatly appreciated, as it all makes a difference!
