Did you know that in the wild horses walk dozens of miles a day to find forage, eating most of the day?
And that forage is the main source fiber, energy, and essential nutrients?
Horses need to eat 24/7 because their digestive system processes small amounts of food frequently. A full stomach not only provides nutrients but it also prevents ulcers and colic, as well as keeps horses mentally engaged. Although a horse's diet can be supplemented with other food sources, such as grain, it's only done so to meet other dietary needs, but forage is still essential to their diet.
Our herd, especially as we get into the COLD of winter, goes through a FULL 53' Tractor Trailer (800 bales of hay) every 8 weeks! We make sure they have hay available to them at all times, either in their stalls or when turned out. As you can imagine, this is one of our top costs of horse care!
Therefore, this Giving Tuesday, we’re on a mission to FILL THE HAY TRUCK, BALE-BY-BALE!, because hay is the most important part of keeping our horses healthy to positively change lives. And with rising costs, and the possibility of further price increases due to tariffs, every bale is more precious than ever.
Please donate a bale, a stack, a pallet, or even a whole truck, this Giving Tuesday!
$10 = 1 Bale
$50 = A Stack of Bales
$100 = A Pallet of Bales
$8,000 = The Whole Truck! 800 Bales!
Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated by our equines, our participants, our staff, and our volunteers.
Your donations make the life changing experiences at our farm possible!
